Kannada star Rishab Shetty, who rose to national fame after the success of Kantara, has garnered a huge fandom across industries. The actor-director recently met Chiyaan Vikram in Bengaluru, where the Tamil star was promoting his upcoming period film, Thangalaan. The Kantara star was excited to meet the Tamil actor, whom he considers ‘his idol.’ He expressed in a new social media post that it took him 24 years to finally meet the actor who has inspired him the most.

In his latest social media post, Rishab shared heartwarming pictures with Vikram and wrote, “In my journey to becoming an actor, #Vikram Sir has always been my inspiration. After 24 long years of waiting, meeting my idol today makes me feel like the luckiest person on Earth. Thank you for inspiring actors like me, and wishing you all the best for #Thangalaan. Love you, @Chiyaan #DreamComeTrue.”

Vikram heaps praise on Kantara for paving the way for Thangalaan

At the Bengaluru press meet, Vikram heaped high praise on the blockbuster films coming out of the Kannada film industry and shared how Rishab's Kantara helped in the making of Thangalaan. Vikram mentioned that when Kantara was released, he hadn’t begun working on Thangalaan yet, and director Pa Ranjith was still formulating the idea for the script.

The Tamil star said he was very curious about how to make this film reach a wide audience. "But when Kantara came out, it opened doors for everyone. Just like how Baahubali opened doors for pan-India cinema, and then KGF opened those doors even wider, Kantara showed us that a movie with good content can make waves and have an impact like big films. And Kantara, which is based on a mythology restricted to Mangaluru, was reaching people across the globe. That happened in the middle of our shoot, and I was like, wow, we don’t have to work so hard because people have changed the way they perceive movies,” he revealed.
