    Remo D’Souza is one of the most celebrated choreographers in the country and has been part of films like Student of the Year, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Bajirao Mastani, and Kalank, among others. But the choreographer has now been booked for cheating a dance troupe of Rs. 11.96 crore. The case has been registered against choreographer Remo D'Souza, his wife Lizelle D'Souza and five other people.

    According to news agency PTI, a 26-year-old dancer filed a case against the choreographer Remo D'Souza, his wife Lizelle D'Souza and five other people, at Mira Road police station on October 16. The case is registered under sections 465 (forgery), 420 (cheating) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The other accused include - Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, Vinod Raut, a policeman, and Ramesh Gupta.

    According to the FIR, the complainant and his troupe participated in a television show and won but the accused claimed that the group was theirs and claimed the prize money of ₹11.96 crore. The incident is reported to have happened between 2018 and July 2024.

    On the work front, Remo is looking forward to the release of his upcoming film Be Happy, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Inayat Verma. Backed by Lizelle, the movie also stars Nora Fatehi, Nassar, Johny Lever and Harleen Sethi.

    Remo garnered fame after he participated in the dance reality show Dance India Dance as a judge, along with Geeta Kapoor and Terence Lewis. He later judged other dance reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Dance Plus, Dance Champions, and India's Best Dancer, among others.

    Remo, who has worked in the entertainment industry for more than 25 years, made his directorial debut with the Bengali language film- Lal Pahare'r Katha. The choreographer also directed popular Bollywood films like ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, and ABCD 2.

    Remo married costume designer Lizelle, an Anglo-Indian from Mumbai, in 1999. The couple has two sons named Gabriel and Dhruv.
