Ranveer Singh chokes up accepting Filmfare Best Actor award for fifth time, hugs and kisses wife Deepika Padukone; Watch

Ranveer Singh won the Filmfare Best Actor Award 2022 for his performance as cricketer Kapil Dev in the movie 83. While is it not the first time that Ranveer has won the title, winning for the film which definitely remains a milestone in his filmography seems to have made the him emotional.

The Filmfare Awards which place on August 30 in Mumbai and the event was televised on September 9. After it aired, Ranveer shared a snippet of his acceptance speech where he can be seen breaking down on stage expressing disbelief over his illustrious journey in Bollywood of over a decade.

An emotional Ranveer said after receiving the trophy from Karan Johar, “Everything that happens in my life is beyond my wildest imagination. Most of the time, I can’t even believe that I am here, doing this … standing in front of all of you. I am in disbelief every day that I became and actor. It’s a miracle.”

He went on to thank the audience for making him the star he is today and called his parents and sister his ‘bhahwan’. The Jayeshbhai Jordaar went on to say that everything that he does is for his ‘bhagwan’ and even got his wife Deepika Padukone out on stage calling her his ‘ghar ki Laxmi’. While Deepika who was backstage joined him on stage grinning ear-to-ear, Ranveer called her ‘the secret of my success’ and added, ‘Ranveer Singh powered by Deepika Padukone’ before hugging her and sweetly kissing her on the cheek.

Deepika played Romi Dev, Kapil Dev’s wife in ’83 opposite Ranveer.

Ranveer has won five Filmfare Awards so far including the one for ’83 this year. Prior to this, he had won Filmfare Best actor for his performance in the 2019 film Gully Boy. He has also won Best Actor for all this of his films with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ramleela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
