Ranbir Kapoor calls Bombay Velvet a 'celebrated disaster' says he was at his lowest after the film flopped
Ranbir Kapoor calls the failure of Bombay Velvet the lowest phase of his career, recalls how messages didn't stop coming weeks after the film tanked at the box office.
Ranbir Kapoor has seen his fair share of ups and downs in Bollywood despite having proven his mettle as an actor in many celebrated films. While Ranbir has seen both one big hit and one mega flop in the past year, Ranbir still counts the failure of his movie Bombay Velvet the lowest phase of his career.
In a recent interview, Ranbir expressed what he went through after the failure of Bombay Velvet which was directed by Anurag Kashyap and also starred Anushka Sharma. The Brahmastra star revealed how the stream of sympathetic messages kept flowing for over three weeks which made him realise that something really major went down with Bombay Velvet failing to take off at the box office.
Ranbir while talking to India Today said that he is never really very expressive about what he’s feeling when his movies release and his mother Neetu Kapoor is the one keeps asking him if he’s feeling happy. He, however, feels not very high or low at such a time expect the time after Bombay Velvet released which he calls a ‘celebrated disaster’.
The actor recalled how things were after the failure of Bombay Velvet and told the publication, "I couldn't understand anything. I thought accha film flop hogayi. 1 week passed by, and I was getting 100 messages (sorry, we are with you) and till the 2nd week, I was still getting messages. Jab 3rd week Mein, I kept getting messages - that's when I started questioning ki kuch bohot bada gadbad hogaya hain. Otherwise, I have not felt it. I am very confident in my art and very confident as an artist. My intention is to be a good actor. Stardom will come if my work is good. So I am not really chasing stardom.”
Ranbir will be seen next in Luv Ranjan’s Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar which also stars Shraddha Kapoor and is releasing in cinemas on March 8.
