Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt roped in to play Ram and Sita in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana; THIS South star to play Raavan

Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious film, Ramayana will star Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles as Ram and Sita respectively. The actors had been visiting the DNEG office for quite some time. As per the latest reports, the project is very much on track and the makers intend to take the film on floors by December 2023. Also, the makers have approached KGF actor Yash to play the antagonist Raavan in the upcoming movie.

Reportedly, the official announcement of Ramayana is expected in Diwali. “Over the last few weeks, Ranbir Kapoor has been spotted visiting the DNEG office, to check on the progress of Ramayana. The pre-visualization of the world has already been done and the team is now doing look tests with Ranbir to play Lord Ram. The purpose of the visit has been to get the right look for Ranbir as on getting it right, he will then step into the physical transformation aspect,” a source told Pinkvilla.

The source further added that there had been multiple reasons behind the confirmation of Alia in part of Sita due to date issues. However, with all the delays, Nitesh and producer Madhu Mantena have finalized their first choice and the actress is excited to play the character. Talking about Yash, the source said that the South star is yet to sign the dotted lines, but Madhu is confident to have Yash on board the film. “Hopefully, in another 15 days, there will be clarity on Yash’s confirmation. At the moment he has shown the right amount of interest, which is primarily the reason for the conversations to continue for such a long time,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the upcoming film, Ramayana will be bankrolled by Allu Aravind, Madhu Mantena and Namit Malhotra. Co-directed by Nitesh and Ravi Udyawar, the film will be another epic after Om Raut’s Adipurush which stars Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. The film has Saif Ali Khan and Sunny Singh in the roles of Raavan and Laxman respectively.
