Ramesh Narayan opens up on controversy.
Composer Ramesh Narayan is now at the centre of controversy after seemingly refusing to accept a felicitation from actor Asif Ali. The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows Ramesh preferring director Jayaraj over Asif Ali to receive the memento at the trailer launch of Manorathangal.
Ramesh Narayan faced significant criticism online, with many describing his behaviour as "rude." He has now broken his silence on the controversy and explained his side of the story.
Ramesh suggested that before he snubbed Asif Ali, he was snubbed by the cast and crew of Manorathangal at the event. He revealed that he was upset after not being invited onto the stage, and the memento was brought to him where he was seated.
"I composed the music for the film directed by Jayaraj. Not being invited to the stage during the trailer launch was disappointing. Afterwards, since I had to leave for Thiruvananthapuram, I expressed my regret about not being invited to Ashwathy," Ramesh said, according to Malayalam Manorama.
Ramesh noted that he didn't intend to insult Asif Ali, calling him one of his favourite actors. While apologizing for the misunderstanding, Ramesh also revealed his plans to personally call Asif and explain himself.
Ramesh has scored the music for Swargam Thurakkuna Samayam, one of the nine stories in the anthology segment. Based on a short story, the film is directed by Jayarajan Nair.
Manorathangal is a unique project in Malayalam cinema. Some of the biggest stars and seasoned filmmakers have collaborated to bring a collection of short stories written by iconic writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair to life. The project has been in the making for a long time and is finally set to start streaming on ZEE5 on August 15.
