Ram Pothineni opens up about his role Shankar in Double iSmart - 'One of those once-in-a-lifetime...'
Ram Pothineni, who is very confident about the success of his upcoming film Double iSmart, has shared interesting titbits about his role in the film.

Ram Pothineni’s upcoming film Double iSmart is gearing up for its grand release this Independence Day. The trailer launch event took place recently in Vizag, where the team kicked off the first promotional leg for the Puri Jagannadh film.

Delving deeper into his character, leading man Ram Pothineni opened up about what excited him most about reprising his role as Shankar. He said, “I met Puri in Goa. When we discussed what kind of film to make, I told him that the character should be unforgettable, one that would be remembered for a decade. I had been wanting a character like this to be created for years. That's when iSmart Shankar was born, and it turned out to be a wild, unforgettable experience—one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments.”

He went on to reveal how the sequel materialized. “I told Puri only one thing: I wanted a character with that kind of mental mass madness, combined with a great script,” the actor said. He added, “Making a commercial film is very challenging, with a low success rate. However, when a commercial film succeeds, the excitement it generates is unparalleled.”

The recently released trailer showcases Ram Pothineni in a massy avatar. It offers a gripping glimpse into the world of iSmart Shankar, who is a fun and comedic character with a lot of swag. The trailer then introduces Sanjay Dutt, aka Big Bull, who is in pursuit of immortality. To achieve it, he must transfer the power vested in Ram’s character, who has a chip inserted in the back of his head. Big Bull and his assistants kidnap Ram to obtain the power, setting the stage for an intense confrontation between the two, culminating in a lot of action and drama. Check out the new trailer here!
Double iSmart OTT partner
As per reports, the digital rights for Double iSmart, starring Ram Pothineni, have been sold to Amazon Prime Video for a whopping Rs 33 crore. The film’s production team had earlier shared that the OTT giant has acquired the streaming rights, and it will be available in multiple languages on the platform after its theatrical run.
Written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, Double iSmart features an ensemble cast that includes Ram Pothineni, Kavya Thapar, Sanjay Dutt, Sayaji Shinde, Getup Srinu, Mohammad Ali, Makrand Deshpande, and Sundeep Verma, among others.
Double iSmart is slated to have a worldwide release on August 15, 2024, and will clash with Ravi Teja's Mr Bachchan at the Telugu box office.
