After the massive blockbuster success of Stree 2, the actor recently sat down for an interview with Raj Shamani and spoke about the portrayal of negative characters in Bollywood.

    Rajkummar Rao on Devdas

During the recent interview, Raj Shamani said that negative characters are portrayed on screen differently - while Shah Rukh Khan’s character dies at the end of Devadas, Ranbir Kapoor’s character is shown as a hero in Animal. Joining in this Devdas versus Animal debate, Rajkummar said that if by watching Devdas you want to become like Devdas, then the problem is within you. He added that the filmmaker has shown you a film that there might be a guy like Devdas but they are not asking the audience to become like him.

He added that the film is based on a very popular book written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Rajkummar said that it is the character’s story, it’s not asking you to be like him, and the character dies in the end. He stated that the author is telling the viewers that if you do such things, you will die sooner. “He is telling you a love story and he is showing that this is what happens in the end,” he added.

    Rajkummar Rao on Animal

Speaking about Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, Rajkummar said that he loved Animal and the experience of watching it. The actor revealed that he had some issues regarding certain scenes in the film but still, he enjoyed the experience of watching the film. “I loved Ranbir Kapoor, his performance was mind-blowing,” he added.

Talking further, Rajkummar revealed that he spoke to a senior film critic regarding the film. The film critic told him that the title of the film is Animal and that the filmmaker wanted to convey that the character in the film is an animal, he is not an ideal man, rather he is an animal who is behaving like one.

Rajkummar was recently seen in Jayprad Desai’s Stree 2 which crossed the Rs 250-crore mark at the box office. Starring Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee, the horror comedy released on August 15.
