Rajinikanth will begin shooting for Coolie on THIS date | Find out about the Vettaiyan connection

Superstar Rajinikanth, who wrapped up shooting for director TJ Gnanavel's Vettaiyan recently, will soon begin shooting for his next film, Coolie, which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. According to sources, the actor will commence shooting for Coolie on June 6. It looks like the veteran superstar is on a roll and doesn't want to waste any time.

The veteran actor's energy and dedication to his craft have netizens in awe. Many have expressed their surprise over the superstar’s energy to shoot for two major films back-to-back.

Lokesh Kanagaraj to make changes in Rajinikanth's Coolie

Meanwhile, director Lokesh Kanagaraj recently spoke about taking feedback from viewers. He has promised to give his female characters greater importance and offer them good scope to perform. The director emphasised that Coolie will have worthy female protagonists, unlike his other films. This comes after his previous films received flak for leaving his female characters in the shadows.

Shobana and Shruti Haasan in Coolie?

Earlier, it was revealed that Malayalam actress Shobana will be sharing screen space with Rajinikanth after Mani Ratnam’s 1991 iconic film Thalapathi. Shruti Haasan is also rumoured to play a pivotal role in the film. However, an official announcement on the cast and crew is yet to be revealed. Notably, Telugu superstar Nagarjuna, Mic Mohan and Ranveer Singh are also speculated to be play important roles in the film.

More about Coolie

Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the action flick’s explosive title teaser featured Rajinikanth fighting goons at a factory. The short glimpse was shot in a monochromatic theme, with just the colour gold highlighted. The teaser was loved by fans, who are waiting for more updates from the director. Anirudh Ravichander is scoring the music for the film. 

Rajinikanth's other film, Vettaiyan, is expected to be released in October. Coolie will most likely be released in 2025.
