Superstar Rajinikanth arrived in Hyderabad on Thursday to join the set of his next movie, Coolie. He was received at the airport by his close friend and seasoned Telugu actor Mohan Babu.

A video of Rajinikanth being escorted to a car by Mohan Babu has surfaced online. Regular filming for Coolie will start in Hyderabad on July 5 against the backdrop of the seaport.

On Wednesday, Lokesh Kanagaraj shared a photo from the location of Coolie. The photo showed Lokesh standing in front of a ship. He also revealed that cinematographer Girish Gangadharan will crank the camera for the movie while announcing that he will soon share other details of the project.

Lokesh has written Coolie with a team of screenwriters. The film is expected to be a high-octane action thriller revolving around the issue of smuggling. The title teaser that was unveiled earlier showed Rajinikanth's character attacking a safe house at the port.

The teaser opens with Rajinikanth storming the hideout, which houses a massive pile of smuggled goods. Incidentally, all the goods seem to be made of gold. The superstar takes control of the godown by force while reciting some popular lines from his earlier filmography.

Coolie marks Lokesh's first collaboration with Rajinikanth. After Leo, Lokesh was supposed to start Kaithi 2, further extending his cinematic universe. However, unexpectedly, he pitched a movie idea to Rajinikanth, and the project instantly took off with Sun Pictures coming on board as the producer.

Lokesh earlier confirmed that Coolie will not be part of Lokesh's movie universe, which already includes Kamal Haasan's Vikram, Thalapathy Vijay's Leo, and Karthi's Kaithi. The filmmakers have yet to reveal the remaining cast of the movie.
