Priyadarshan says THIS about reuniting with Akshay Kumar after 14 years on Bhooth Bangla; reacts to Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar recently announced his reunion with director Priyadarshan after 14 years. The actor-director duo has teamed up for a movie titled Bhooth Bangla. Their collaboration has left cine-goers quite excited and they are looking forward to it. Recently, in an interview, Priyadarshan, who has worked with Akshay on films like Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bhagam Bhag, De Dana Dan, and Garam Masala, said that they have come together after 14 years and are trying their best but can't match the expectations of the audience.

Priyadarshan on reuniting with Akshay Kumar

During his recent appearance at the IIFA Awards 2024 green carpet on Saturday (September 28), Priyadarshan opened up about reuniting with Akshay after 14 years and how he cannot manage the expectations of the audience. He told PTI, “Every film I’ve made with him has been a superhit. People say that you are the reason Akshay (does comedy), but I don’t believe in all those things. What I did was exploit his sense of humour (on screen). We are working after 14 years and I hope things will work. It’s a challenge. We can’t match the expectations (of the audience) but I’m trying my best.”

Speaking about the kind of actor Akshay is, the director stated that after Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay is the actor who is dedicated and comes on time.

Priyadarshan directed the first part of Bhool Bhuliayaa which starred Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. Reacting to the upcoming release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Priyadarshan said that Anees Bazmee did a good job with the second part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa and he thinks that he will do the same with the third part.

Priyadarshan on sequels of his movies

Priyadarshan did not return to direct the sequel parts of Bhool Bhuliayaa as the filmmaker does not believe in directing sequels of his own films. He said, “I believe a movie can be (only) made once and when the film really works well, people enjoy it. Expectations (are there), maybe you will get the initial (audience), but there’s always this thing that ‘it didn’t come up to the expectations of the first one. That’s the criticism we face. I think it is better to make one film than to make sequels. I prefer other people to make sequels (of my films).”

Meanwhile, Bhooth Bangla will reportedly also star Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal and Asrani in important roles.
