Prithviraj Sukumaran in Aadujeevitham
Actor-producer Prithviraj Sukumaran on Wednesday confirmed the OTT release date for his recent movie, Aadujeevitham, also known as The Goat Life. He noted that Aadujeevitham will become available for streaming on Netflix on July 19.
Prithviraj also shared an unseen photo from Aadujeevitham revealing his frail and emaciated look. The photo captures the moment when Prithviraj's Najeeb Muhammed takes off his clothes for the first time, exposing the abuse he has suffered in captivity. It's one of the most sobering moments in the entire movie, highlighting the extent of pain and suffering experienced by Najeeb.
Prithviraj shed more than 30 kgs to embody the man who is robbed of dreams, dignity, and, to some extent, humanity by strangers who treat him like cattle. Prithviraj pushed his limits to get that shot as perfect as he could. He earlier revealed that he drank 30 ml of alcohol to drain water from his body and needed to be carried on a stretcher to the location to preserve the little energy he had due to an extreme diet regime.

Prithviraj's efforts paid off as Aadujeevitham struck gold at the box office. The film grossed more than Rs 160 crore in global ticket sales, against its production budget of Rs 80 crore. The film became one of the biggest hits of Malayalam cinema this year.
Aadujeevitham is based on the novel of the same name and the real-life struggles of Najeeb Muhammed. Director Blessy announced the project in 2008. However, due to budget constraints, he was not able to make it for a long time. Yet, Blessy and Prithviraj remained committed for 16 years to turning Aadujeevitham into a movie, and they prevailed.
Despite its commercial and critical success, Aadujeevitham didn't find a home on streaming for a long time. Earlier, Disney+ Hotstar was expected to own the digital rights to the movie. Only recently, the filmmakers confirmed Netflix as the official partner.
