Prakash Raj refuses to discuss Darshan's arrest. Here's why?
Actor-filmmaker and politician Prakash Raj, known for his candidness, recently took a stand against sensational news of Darshan's arrest while promoting an upcoming Kannada movie in Bengaluru.
Prakash Raj reacts to Darshan's arrest but with a twist.
Actor-filmmaker Prakash Raj is known for his outspokenness. He is also a firebrand politician and brings that fieriness to his comments while addressing pressing issues in the country. While promoting an upcoming Kannada movie in Bengaluru, Prakash Raj was asked to share his comments on the recent incidents in the Kannada film industry, mainly on the arrest of Kannada movie star Darshan in a murder case.
Prakash Raj, however, refused to indulge in sensational issues dominating the news cycles, instead offering to discuss topics that seldom get mentioned by mainstream media.
"Everybody is talking about the incidents in Karnataka for the past month. You want to talk about Darshan, Suraj Revanna, Prajwal Revanna, and Yediyurappa. But, let you and I discuss the NEET exam. There is no salary hike for Anganwadi workers; auto drivers are facing problems because bike drivers; and mid-day meal cooks at government schools are paid Rs 3000 monthly. Let us talk about these issues as others are busy with other topics," Prakash Raj said.
For the uninitiated, the Kannada film industry was rocked by the arrest of Darshan, who is one of the main accused in a murder case. The Bengaluru police last month took him into custody in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy.
Renukaswamy allegedly was sending obscene messages to Darshan's partner Pavithra Gowda. Darshan is accused of plotting Renukaswamy's kidnap in Chitradurga and bringing him to Bengaluru. It's alleged that Darshan and his accomplices held Renukaswamy as a hostage in a shed and tortured him. Renukaswamy succumbed to his injuries, and his body was disposed of in a stormwater drain in Bengaluru.
In less than a day after the discovery of Renukaswamy's body, the Bengaluru police formed a special team and arrested as many as 18 suspects in connection with the case, including Darshan and Pavithra Gowda.
