Telugu superstar Prabhas is currently basking in the success of his latest movie, Kalki 2898 AD. The industry expects the film to earn approximately Rs 1000 crore in global ticket sales. However, Prabhas seems to be in no mood to rest on his laurels and enjoy the victory. He has his work cut out for him and will soon return to work.
According to industry sources, Prabhas will shoot for two more movies this year. He is expected to join the sets of Salaar Part 2 in August this year. The shooting is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad. This is the second and final part of the crime saga created by director Prashanth Neel.
The first part, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, premiered in cinemas last year and emerged as a huge hit, grossing over Rs 600 crore in global ticket sales. The film concluded with the revelation of Deva's actual identity, portrayed by Prabhas.
In Salaar, Prabhas essays the role of an angry young man who leads one of the armies in the civil war in the fictional city-state of Khansaar. The film also stars Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran in a prominent role. While shooting is expected to resume this year, there are no updates yet on the release plans from the producers, Hombale Films.
Meanwhile, Prabhas is set to join the sets of The Raja Saab before Salaar. According to reports, he will start shooting for The Raja Saab in the second week of July. The film has been in production for some time now, with filmmaker Maruthi shooting scenes that do not involve Prabhas. He is expected to wrap up his remaining portions before joining the sets of Salaar.
Trade sources suggest that The Raja Saab is slated to release during the Sankranti holidays. Since the success of Baahubali, Prabhas has predominantly been involved in high-concept, big-budget spectacle movies. However, The Raja Saab is believed to be smaller in scale and showcases Prabhas in an outright humorous role. The movie also stars Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Yogi Babu.
Prabhas has also played a key cameo in the upcoming mythological movie Kannappa. Later, he will join the sets of Kalki 2898 AD for the second part. More updates on this are awaited.
