Telugu superstar Prabhas' upcoming movie Kalki 2989 AD is making the right noise as the release date draws closer. On Friday, the filmmakers released a two-part animated prelude, Bujji and Bhairava, adding momentum to the film's promotional campaign.

The filmmakers will next reveal the movie's much-awaited theatrical trailer. It will be launched on June 7 and is expected to be a grand event. Recently, the filmmakers arranged a massive show to reveal the key character, a robot named Bujji. The dynamic relationship between Bujji and Bhairava, played by Prabhas, seems to be at the centre of the narrative.

The animated series revealed the core themes and conflicts and gave an idea about the dystopian world created by director Nag Ashwin. The film begins in the land of Kashi, India's spiritual capital, and follows the struggles of an aspirational youth, Bhairava, who strives to make enough "units"—a futuristic name for wealth—to get himself into "Complex," a utopian land where clean air, good food, and great opportunities are found in abundance.

Season one ends with Bhairava and Bujji finding a mutual ally in each other, easing the audience into the fantastical world created by Nag Ashwin. However, the series refrained from revealing details of other main characters, played by Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, and others.

Keerthy Suresh has given voice to Bujji, the robot. This is Keerthy's second collaboration with Nag Ashwin after the 2018 biopic drama Mahanati.

The trailer is expected to give more insight into the film's plot and the new universe that the director has created.

After being in production for more than four years, the film is all set to hit the screens on June 27.
