Telugu superstar Prabhas' latest movie, Kalki 2898 AD, continues its terrific performance at the global box office with its two-day collection nearing Rs 300 crore. The producers officially confirmed on Saturday that the first two days of the movie's collection is Rs 298.5 crore.

Kalki 2898 AD made its debut at the box office with a whopping Rs 191 crore , which is a record for a non-holiday release. It shattered several box office records of past blockbusters and emerged as the biggest opener in 2024. It's unlikely any other Indian movie will beat the opening day record of the movie this year.

The opening day collection holds the third biggest opening in the history of Indian cinema, following director SS Rajamouli's global hits, RRR and Baahubali: The Conclusion.

The second day naturally saw a dip, but it's still tracking well above most movies running in theatres globally. The film grossed more than Rs 107 crore on its second day.

As per trade sources, Kalki 2898 AD may end its extended opening weekend with nearly Rs 500 crore in global ticket sales. With no other big movies slated for release in the next two weeks, the film is poised to retain the majority of its screens across the country and continue to perform record-breaking business in the coming days.

Kalki 2898 AD has clicked with movie buffs in North India, while also gaining traction in states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The film grossed about Rs 6 crore in Tamil Nadu and nearly Rs 3 crore in Kerala. Thanks to positive reviews and strong word of mouth, interest among audiences in these states has significantly shot up. It also helps that Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan has played a cameo role, and his unique look as Supreme Yaskin seems to be a crowd-puller in these states.
