In an innovative move, Telugu superstar Prabhas has announced The Script Craft, a new initiative that allows aspiring storytellers across India to submit film synopsis for potential production. In a promotional video, Prabhas and his team unveiled their vision: to tap into the preferences of moviegoers and democratize storytelling by making the audience a crucial part of the film selection process. This bold endeavour echoes the early methods of Amazon Studios, which successfully used a similar approach to identify promising ideas that resonated with audiences.

In its early years, Amazon Studios introduced a unique, audience-driven content model, inviting creators to submit scripts and story concepts. Selected ideas would undergo an open feedback phase, where Amazon released pilot episodes to Prime Video subscribers, who were encouraged to watch, rate, and provide feedback. This polling allowed Amazon to greenlight the most popular projects. Among the successes that emerged from this model were critically acclaimed series like Transparent, The Man in the High Castle, and Mozart in the Jungle. However, as Amazon Studios expanded its ambitions, it moved away from audience polling in favour of high-budget productions with pre-committed full seasons.

Now, Prabhas is bringing this concept to India with The Script Craft. Much like Amazon’s early approach, storytellers can submit their ideas, and the most popular ones will have a greater advantage in the selection process. While the effectiveness of this approach in identifying widely appealing stories remains to be seen, The Script Craft empowers audiences to influence which stories get told. This initiative could partially redefine Indian cinema, fostering more diverse voices and narratives that resonate with the public.

Currently, Prabhas is busy shooting for his upcoming movie Salaar: Part 2. After completing a small schedule, he is expected to join the sets of Spirit, written and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. His upcoming movie The Raja Saab is set to hit the screens in April next year.
