Pooja Hegde roped in for Suriya-Karthik Subbaraj's movie

The latest buzz is that director Karthik Subbaraj has roped in Pooja Hegde to play the female lead in his next movie, which will star Tamil superstar Suriya in the lead. An official confirmation on the same is awaited.

If it's true, the upcoming project, temporarily titled "Suriya 44," will mark Pooja Hegde's maiden on-screen collaboration with Suriya. While Pooja has appeared in several movies in Telugu, she has only a few Tamil movies to her credit. It's noteworthy that she made her big-screen debut with director Mysskin's superhero movie "Mugamoodi." However, later she found a lot of success in the Telugu film industry. She made her comeback in Tamil cinema in 2022 with "Beast," starring Thalapathy Vijay.

At the moment, we know very little about "Suriya 44." It's touted to be a road movie filled with high-octane action sequences. Earlier reports also claimed that seasoned Malayalam actor Joju George has also been hired to play a key role in the movie.

Suriya was earlier expected to star in a movie with director Sudha Kongara Prasad. The film was supposed to be a period drama, inspired by real-life events. The filmmakers also released a promo video revealing the details of the main star cast, including Suriya, Dulquer Salmaan, and Vijay Varma. However, the project has been put on hold citing pre-production reasons.

"Puranaanooru requires more time. This collaboration is very special and close to our hearts. We are working towards giving you our best. We will be going on floors very soon. Thank you for your constant love and support," said Suriya in a statement.

Soon after that, Suriya announced a new project with Karthik Subbaraj.

In the meantime, Suriya is also awaiting the release of "Kanguva." The fantasy drama starring Suriya in a double role is expected to hit the screens soon after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections.
