The producers of Thalapathy Vijay's next movie, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, confirmed on Wednesday that actress Pooja Hegde has been cast as the female lead.

Pooja Hegde is no stranger to working with big stars, having previously shared the screen with notable actors across industries. This project marks her second collaboration with Vijay, following their successful pairing in Beast (2022), which performed well at the box office despite receiving mixed reviews. The chemistry between Vijay and Pooja was widely praised, with their performance in the "Halamithi Habibo" song being a high point of their onscreen partnership. Their reunion in Thalapathy 69 is expected to generate similar excitement.

Thalapathy 69 is directed by H. Vinoth, best known for his work on hard-hitting action films such as Nerkonda Paarvai and Thunivu. The movie has already created waves after Bollywood actor Bobby Deol was officially confirmed to play the antagonist. This marks Deol’s second Tamil film after Kanguva, where he plays a key role alongside Suriya. Deol has successfully reinvented his career by embracing negative roles in recent years.

Though plot details for Thalapathy 69 remain under wraps, industry sources suggest that the film is expected to be an action-packed entertainer with strong political undertones, potentially setting the stage for Vijay's anticipated entry into politics.

Vinoth has assembled a solid supporting cast for what is rumoured to be Vijay's last film before he retires from acting to fully focus on his political career.

Thalapathy 69 is set to begin production later this week, with the producers, KVN Productions, planning to reveal more characters from the film in the coming days.

Vijay was last seen in The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT), directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film opened with high expectations but received mixed reactions and underperformed at the box office.
