PIC: Mammootty beams with joy as he joins Vinayakan on set; kickstarts shooting for upcoming film in Nagercoil

As announced earlier, Mollywood megastar Mammootty and Jailer actor Vinayakan are all set to share screen space in an upcoming film. The film’s crew, who had officially commenced shooting earlier, has now been joined by Mammootty in its ongoing schedule in Nagercoil.

Mammootty begins shooting for his upcoming film

Taking to social media, Mammootty’s production banner, Mammootty Kampany, shared a picture of the Malayalam star alongside Vinayakan. They revealed that the megastar has joined the cast and crew for his part of the shoot. They wrote, “Our dearest @mammukka joined the sets of #MammoottyKampany Production No.7 at Nagercoil today.”

The new picture features the versatile actor sporting a slicked-back hairstyle, wearing a mauve-toned shirt and mundu. Vinayakan, who looks awestruck by the actor’s presence, is seen donning a dark green shirt. He is rumored to be playing a cop in the film.

About the Mammootty-Vinayakan film

Helmed by debutant Jithin K Jose, the film marks yet another collaboration between Mammootty and Vinayakan, who have previously shared screen space in several films, including Big B, Daddy Cool, Best Actor, and God’s Own Cletus.

As per the latest grapevine, the Malayalam megastar is set to essay the role of an antagonist in this film. According to reports, Mammootty will portray a character with negative shades, while Jailer actor Vinayakan will take on the lead role as a cop. However, an official confirmation is still awaited. The first shooting schedule is currently underway in Nagercoil, and Mammootty is expected to wrap up his portions soon. Interestingly, Prithviraj and Joju George were initially considered for the antagonist's role, which ultimately went to Mammootty.

Rumored to feature an ensemble cast, the film is described as a psychological crime thriller. On the technical front, Roby Varghese Raj, known for Kannur Squad, will handle cinematography, while Sushin Shyam will compose the original score and soundtrack. The project is being produced by Mammootty’s banner, Mammootty Kampany, in partnership with Truth Global Films, marking Mammootty Kampany’s seventh production venture.
