Superstar Rajinikanth attended the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected government in Andhra Pradesh. Rajinikanth shares a close relationship with TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu, who on Wednesday took charge as the new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Rajinikanth's wife, Latha, was also present at the ceremony, which saw some of India's most powerful political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance. Rajinikanth's close friendship with the family members of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi is also well known.

Pawan Kalyan, the younger brother of Chiranjeevi, secured a spectacular victory in the recently concluded elections in alliance with the TDP and the BJP. He also took the oath as a cabinet minister in the Andhra Pradesh government. The members of the ruling NDA alliance came together for the event to show their strength.

Pawan became emotional when he shook hands with Chiranjeevi on the stage. He touched Chiranjeevi's feet and also gave him a tight hug to express his gratitude for his support.

Rajinikanth has been a common sight at swearing-in ceremonies. He was also one of the high-profile guests at the swearing-in ceremony of Modi and his cabinet in Delhi.

Rajinikanth's career in electoral politics never took off for many reasons. He had to unceremoniously withdraw his plans to float his own political outfit due to ill health. However, he remains an influential figure in politics due to his proximity to powerful leaders.

On the career front, Rajinikanth is now on a break after completing the shoot of Vettaiyan. Written and directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film is bankrolled by Lyca Productions. The cop drama is now in post-production and is set to hit the screens on October 10.

In July, Rajinikanth will join the sets of director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie.
