Exactly 70 years ago today, a star was born. Legendary actor-director Raj Kapoor and his wife Krishna Raj Kapoor welcomed their second son Rishi Kapoor into the world. He began his journey in Bollywood with Mera Naam Joker and went on to become a heartthrob with his first ever lead role in Bobby, which emerged to be a blockbuster and is considered a classic even today. In his career which spans over 5 long decades, the late superstar gave us many characters and epic performances to remember him by.

Today on his 70th birth anniversary, his actress wife Neetu Kapoor fondly remembered him with a gem of a photograph which will surely leave you smiling. While Neetu has a scarf around her neck, made of colorful feathers, Rishi is sporting a pair of giant party sunglasses. In the caption below, the Jugjugg Jeeyo star wrote: “Happy birthday❤️.” Their daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, on the other hand, penned a heartwarming post which read: “We miss you so much especially today but 'With a cheer, not a tear, in OUR eye' 🤍 Love you Papa.”

Back in 2018, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with leukemia for which he underwent treatment in New York. The treatment was successful but two years ago he was rushed to the hospital due to breathing difficulties. On 30th April, a day after Irrfan Khan’s demise, Rishi breathed his last. We got a chance to see him shine on-screen again for the last time in Sharmaji Namkeen, which marked his posthumous appearance as the protagonist. Since he passed away before the film was complete, actor Paresh Rawal filled in for the remaining scenes.

Rishi ji is not amongst us anymore, but he continues to live on in our hearts!
