Telugu superstar and newly elected MLA Pawan Kalyan’s most anticipated film, OG or They Call Him OG, is undoubtedly one of the most awaited Telugu action dramas. Although the film was scheduled to be released in September this year, a few reports have confirmed that it might be postponed to 2025 as the shoot is still pending due to Pawan Kalyan's political commitments.

Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that the makers of the film have sold its digital rights to a major OTT giant for a whopping price. Yes, you read that right. As per the latest Telugu reports, the film’s OTT rights have been sold to Netflix for a whopping Rs 92 crores, making it one of the biggest OTT deals for a Telugu film. However, an official confirmation is awaited. As of now, OG is slated to have a worldwide theatrical release on September 27, 2024.

    More about OG

Written and directed by Sujeeth, the film stars Sriya Reddy, Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Prakash Raj, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Harish Uthaman, Abhimanyu Singh, and Ajay Ghosh in key roles. Emraan Hashmi, known for his romantic roles in Bollywood, will be making his Telugu acting debut as a formidable villain in this gangster action thriller. The actor, while sharing the character poster from the film, posted a punchline from the film on his X account: “Gambheeraaaa, Nuvvu thirigi Bombay vasthunnaavani vinnaa!! Promise, Iddari lo oka thala ye migultund” (which translates to: "Gambheera, I heard you are coming back to Mumbai again. I promise, only one of us will be alive"). The film revolves around a dreaded gangster, Gambheera, played by Pawan, while Emraan Hashmi plays Om Bhai.

Interestingly, Salaar-fame actress Sriya Reddy replaced Bollywood star Tabu, who was initially cast to play the female lead in the gangster action thriller. According to the actress, Tabu was the first choice of the makers to play the role, which later went to the Salaar actress.

The makers had earlier released a power-packed teaser, revealing Pawan's character as a Marathi-speaking rebel who terrorizes a police station and strikes fear in the hearts of both cops and criminals.

Now that leading man Pawan Kalyan has been relieved of election hustle, the makers are expected to drop major updates soon.
