It was a proud moment for all the fans of Randeep Hooda when the actor had landed a role in the Hollywood crime-action flick Extraction which starred Chris Hemsworth and David Harbour in the lead roles. Recently, the actor opened up about how he was selected for the part. For the unversed, Randeep essayed the role of Saju, a former para lieutenant colonel.
Hooda said that despite him not being very good in auditions, he managed to land the part in Extraction. During the trailer launch of his upcoming film Swatantra Veer Savarkar in Delhi, he was heard saying, “It was simply through an audition that I gave, which I'm not good at. I'm very thankful to the Russo Brothers and Sam Hargrave, the director, who chose me. I'm not very good at auditions. But, I got through it." Furthermore, he also said that he had options to choose some other parts as well in the film.
However, the Highway actor said that he went for this role since he wanted to break the common stereotype that Indian actors are mostly chosen for non-action roles when cast in a Hollywood film. Randeep was also all praises for his co-star and Hollywood royalty Chris Hemsworth. He called the actor extremely kind, humble, and down-to-earth despite having a tough exterior.
The 2020 film was directed by Sam Hargrave. It also starred Pankaj Tripathi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Golshifteh Farahani, and Neha Mahajan in the lead roles. The second part of the movie titled Extraction 2 was released last year in June. It had Hemsworth reprise his role as Tyler Rake.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Randeep will mark his directorial debut with Swatantra Veer Savarkar. The movie revolves around the life of the legendary freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. It is all set to be released on March 22, 2024.
