Following Shah Rukh’s exit from the third instalment of the Don franchise, director Farhan Akhtar has been looking for a bankable actor to take the legacy forward. And much to the fans’ delight, the makers have zeroed in on Ranveer Singh. After Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy, this would be his third association with Excel Entertainment.

According to the reports, the makers have already shot for announcement video of Don 3 and will soon release the same. “The audience is awaiting the announcement will bated breath. In fact, the video featuring Ranveer has already been shot and the production house is planning to release it without further delay,” a source told News 18. “The makers are waiting to see how fans of the Don franchise react to Ranveer’s casting considering Shah Rukh won over everyone with his charismatic portrayal of Don,” added the source.

Earlier, a report claimed that Shah Rukh, who headlined Don and Don 2, has backed out from the franchise because Don 3 script didn’t fit into his scheme of things. The actor reportedly intended to do only commercial films that cater to a universal section of the audience. Well, the actor had multiple discussions with Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani on Don 3. But he is not keen to get back as Don again as per reports. It is also being said that the superstar has already been informed about Ranveer replacing him in the upcoming film.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh was last seen in Pathaan alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. He will next be seen in Atlee’s action thriller Jawan co-starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Sanya Malhotra. Thalapathy Vijay, Deepika Padukone and Allu Arjun are expected to have cameo roles in the upcoming movie. Apart from this, he also has Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki in the pipeline. On the other hand, Ranveer’s last film, Cirkus tanked at the box office. He is set to feature in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani alongside Alia Bhatt.
