Neetu Chandra has been away from showbiz for a long time. She was once considered a promising actress in Bollywood for her work in movies like Garam Masala, Traffic Signal, and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye!, among others, but soon disappeared for unknown reasons. In a recent interaction with Bollywood Hungama , Neetu highlighted the dark side of Bollywood saying that even after working with 13 National Award winners, she is jobless. She revealed that she doesn’t have money to do PR and therefore sometimes feels unwanted. Recalling an incident with a casting director, she said she was rejected in an audition within one hour of auditioning only to break down her confidence. She mentioned that he was a renowned casting director and refused to take his name.

Further, she went on to ask why an artist gets recognition posthumously taking late actor Sushant Singh Rajput ’s name. “Should I suffocate myself to death? Kya logon ke jaane ke baad hi unke kaam ko saraha jaata hai?”, she said. Just like Sushant committed suicide, she too came across such suicidal thoughts, "Jo Sushant (Singh Rajput) ne step uthaya..bahut logon ko aisa khyaal aate hai." She later summarised her journey as "Meri story ek successful actress ki failure story hai”. She also spoke about a heartbreaking incident of her life, where she was offered Rs 25 lakh per month o become a salaried wife to a businessman.
