    Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty is now all set to be the proud recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award. The actor started off his showbiz innings with Mrinal Sen's art-house film Mrigayaa, for which he won the National Film Award for Best Actor.

    The announcement about Mithun Chakraborty to be receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award was shared by Ashwini Vaishnaw (Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting) on social media (Twitter / X, to be precise). He posted, ‘Mithun Da’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. To be presented at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on Oct 8, 2024’.

    Besides being an actor par excellence, Mithun Chakraborty also proved that he is an unbeatable force to reckon with, even when it came to dancing. His dance moves were so mesmerizing that, one can see many of the dance reality show contestants and even the judges taking immense pride in replicating the iconic dance moves.

    In his career spanning many years in showbiz, Mithun Chakraborty did not restrict himself only to Bollywood. He extended his acting prowess to other languages as well, which includes Bengali, Punjabi, Oriya and other languages as well.

    Besides having bagged the national Award for his debut film, Mithun Chakraborty had also received the prestigious awards for films including Tahader Katha and Swami Vivekananda. His roles in both the films were appreciated by the masses as well as the critics. The veteran actor was recently seen in the Vivek Agnihotri directed The Kashmir Files.

    One of Mithun Chakraborty’s two sons Namashi Chakraborty had made his Bollywood debut in the film Bad Boy, which fared average at the box office. On the other hand, Mithun Chakraborty’s daughter in law Madalsa Sharma rose to immense [popularity in the role of Kaavya in the extremely famous TV show Anupama, which is being led by Rupali Ganguly.
