Meiyazhagan: Suriya reacts to overwhelming response for Karthi- Arvind Swamy’s film, says 'Pure cinema happens when miracles...'

Karthi and Arvind Swamy-starrer Meiyazhagan received overwhelming responses upon its release today (September 27). The Prem Kumar directorial has already been declared a winner by Tamil and Telugu audiences, who are mesmerized by the poignant storytelling of the film. 

For the unversed, the film has been produced under Suriya and Jyotika’s home banner, 2D Entertainment. Karthi’s brother and actor Suriya recently took to his social media handles to pen a note of gratitude for the film's positive reception. 

Suriya on Meiyazhagan’s success

Sharing a picture of the film's script and a poster of Karthi and Arvind Swamy, the actor wrote that he believes in miracles, and that pure cinema can only be made when miracles happen. Thanking all the fans, cast, and crew for making this film a success, the Kanguva star wrote, "A film is usually made with a lot of math, a lot of calculations, and a lot of love, but pure cinema happens when a miracle occurs. I believe many miracles have happened with #Meiyazhagan. Thank you for the overwhelming love and response, dear all... it all started with this script book. Thank you Prem, thank you Arvind Swamy sir, thank you Karthi, thank you Govind, thank you to all the cast & crew."

Karthi reveals Suriya's reaction after watching Meiyazhagan

Earlier, during a promotional interview, Karthi opened up about Suriya’s response after watching the family drama. He revealed that Suriya gave him a warm hug, something he hadn’t experienced since his debut film Paruthiveeran (2007). Karthi shared, “After watching this film, he came up to me while I was eating and, just like that, hugged me. I think this kind of reaction is something I haven’t received since my debut in Paruthiveeran. It’s very special.” 

Meiyazhagan clashes with Devara

 Despite the stiff competition from the Jr. NTR-starrer Devara: Part 1, Karthi and Arvind Swamy's Meiyazhagan has been performing exceptionally well at the Tamil Nadu box office. Audiences are captivated by the film's simple yet heartwarming storyline and praised the lead actors' performances. Amid several action films churned out across various industries, Meiyazhagan seems to stand out, giving audiences a refreshing break.
