Meiyazhagan star Sri Divya reveals Arul Mei song made her 'cry non-stop'; here's why
Sri Divya, who plays a key role in Karthi and Arvind Swamy's upcoming film Meiyazhagan, recently spoke about her experience of working in the film.

Ahead of the grand release of Karthi and Arvind Swamy’s highly anticipated film Meiyazhagan, the makers recently released the film’s album as part of its promotional activities. During the audio launch event, actress Sri Divya praised composer Govind Vasantha for his song Arul Mei.

The actress shared that she kept listening to the song on repeat, which made her cry continuously. “Arul Mei is a beautiful song from the film. I remember putting the song on loop and crying non-stop. It reminded me of my childhood and my mother,” she said.
She added, “I have been yearning for that pure and genuine love for a long time, which I sadly haven’t experienced since my childhood. Hence, this song helped me relive those emotions. So yes, it’s a very special song to me, and I’m happy to be part of this beautiful film.”

The teaser opens with Arvind Swamy's character at a wedding, where Karthi’s character playfully surprises him by calling him ‘Athaan’ (cousin). Arvind Swamy plays a city man visiting his village, while Karthi portrays an innocent and eager village boy, cheerfully following and helping him. Though the plot remains under wraps, the teaser hints at an intriguing story with emotional depth, directed by 96-fame C. Prem Kumar.

About Meiyazhagan
Meiyazhagan stars Karthi and Arvind Swamy and is directed and written by C. Prem Kumar. The film is described as a family drama that revolves around two cousins who become arch-enemies. Actress Sri Divya, reportedly playing Karthi’s sister in the movie, is making a comeback to the rural drama genre after a long hiatus. On the technical side, the film’s cinematography is handled by Sathyan Sooryan, with Govind Vasantha composing the music. The film is produced by Karthi’s brother and actor Suriya, along with his wife and actress Jyothika.
Meiyazhagan is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 27, 2024.
