Meiyazhagan: Mari Selvaraj is all praise for Karthi starrer, calls it a 'beautiful film on human life'

Karthi and Arvind Swamy's latest emotional drama Meiyazhagan, which was released in theaters on September 27, opened to highly positive responses from both critics and audiences, alike. While many celebrities have been heaping praise on the makers for crafting a soul-stirring film, Maamannan director Mari Selvaraj too shared his thoughts on the film.

The acclaimed director recently showered praise on the lead cast of Meiyazhagan and penned a note of appreciation for the film. He wrote that watching the film was a pleasure. Taking to X, Mari Selvaraj said that he has watched Meiyazhagan and called it a 'beautiful film on human life'. "My heartiest congratulations and love to @Karthi_Offl sir, @thearvindswami sir, brother #PremKumar, and the entire film crew who made this possible," he added.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Prem Kumar, Meiyazhagan revolves around the simple truths of life, narrated through the story of two cousins who reunite after a long hiatus.

Meiyazhagan makes an impressive opening

Starring Karthi, Arvind Swamy, and Sri Divya in key roles, the film opened with impressive numbers at the box office on its first day. The film earned approximately Rs 3.10 crore at the domestic box office. It collected around Rs 5 crore worldwide and has been receiving an overwhelmingly positive response in both the Tamil and Telugu versions. Despite clashing with the pan-Indian actioner Devara, starring Jr NTR, Meiyazhagan managed to draw more footfalls at cinemas and has been enjoying a good response from theatergoers. 

Following its initial release, the film has seen strong bookings compared to its competitors and seems to be leading at the box office in terms of audience preference. As Devara continues to receive mixed reactions from viewers, Meiyazhagan has benefited from this, resulting in greater attendance at theaters. Based on current trends, it seems likely that Meiyazhagan will continue to perform well through the weekend. 

Starring Karthi, Arvind Swamy, Sri Divya, and Raj Kiran, the film is bankrolled by Suriya and Jyothika’s home banner, 2D Entertainment.
