Mari Selvaraj has been riding on success following the overwhelming response to his latest film, Vaazhai. The director, who has delivered only four films so far, has managed to produce only blockbuster hits. As he ventures into his upcoming exciting projects, the director opened up about his much-anticipated sophomore collaboration with actor Dhanush. For the unversed, Dhanush and Mari Selvaraj have previously worked together in the blockbuster hit film Karnan (2021).

In a recent interview, the director revealed that he will soon begin work on the Dhanush-starrer. Although he could not disclose many details about the film, he did reveal that it will be a historical drama, which he considers an important project. He also mentioned that since the film deals with a complex subject, he is required to do in-depth research on the topic before beginning its production. While concealing key details about the film, he added, "It's a very important film in my career, but it requires extensive research and shooting. It might take a couple of years to complete, with at least one and a half years allocated for its entire production. By then, I will have completed my pending projects and will proceed to work on this one."

Meanwhile, the Pariyerum Perumal-fame director is set to team up with actor Karthi for another project. While rumors about this collaboration had been circulating on social media for a few months, the director officially confirmed it in a recent interview. He also mentioned the possibility of working with superstar Rajinikanth, stating that the latter appreciated his 'working style' and expressed confidence that the project would materialize soon.

The director is currently occupied with the production work of his much-awaited film, Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram. The director revealed that Bison is scheduled to hit the big screens in 2025. Touted as a sports drama, the film will feature Dhruv in the role of a kabaddi player. Besides Dhruv Vikram, Anupama Parameswaran plays the female lead. The film also stars Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, Hari Krishnan, Azhagam Perumal, and Aruvi Madhan in key roles. The movie is jointly produced by Applause Entertainment and Pa Ranjith’s home banner, Neelam Studio.
Meanwhile, Mari Selvaraj's latest emotional drama Vaazhai attained both critical and commercial success, with the director announcing a sequel to the film, which is currently in the works.
