Filmmaker Chidambaram seems to have become one of the most sought-after directors in Indian cinema following the phenomenal success of his previous movie, Manjummel Boys. As per the latest reports, Chidambaram has been tapped to direct a movie in Telugu for Mythri Movie Makers, known for producing Telugu superstar Allu Arjun's upcoming movie Pushpa 2: The Rule. An official confirmation on the same, however, is awaited.

The latest update about Chidambaram's foray into the Telugu film industry comes days after he signed on to direct a Hindi film. His debut in the Hindi film industry will be bankrolled by Phantom Studios, which is known for producing hits like Queen, Super 30, and 83, to name a few.

At the moment, we don't have details about Chidambaram's maiden Bollywood movie, including its main star cast.

Chidambaram shot to fame nationwide following the success of Manjummel Boys earlier this year. Manjummel Boys, inspired by real-life stories, opened in cinemas without any fanfare. However, the film immediately took off thanks to glowing reviews and terrific word of mouth.

Manjummel Boys revolves around a group of friends who take a jolly trip to Kodaikanal. The group is unruly and doesn't respect the warning signs at popular tourist spots. This behaviour costs them dearly when one of them falls into a void inside a cave where entry is restricted to tourists. The friend falls several hundred feet down a hole, infamously called Devil's Kitchen, located in the popular Gunaa Cave.

Manjummel Boys also heavily leans on Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's classic Guna and the iconic romantic number "Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan". With its narrative wrapped in nostalgic factors and feel-good elements, Manjummel Boys became the highest-grossing movie in the history of Malayalam cinema.
