    South megastar Mammootty turned 73 today (September 7). Marking the occasion of Mammootty’s birthday, his son and South star Dulquer Salmaan shared a picture of the father-son duo and wrote a heartfelt note for his father, calling Mammootty his hero.

    Taking to Instagram, Dulquer shared a picture of himself along with his father, actor Mammootty. Wishing his father a happy birthday, Dulquer captioned the post, “Of late I’ve realised that the best of friends never have any photos together. Cause their moments together are too precious and fun to even think of wasting time posing or taking selfies .”

    “Increasingly so, each year it’s become tradition for us to take pictures for me to post on your birthday Pa. Somehow neither of our phones seem to ever have any pictures of just the both of us. But now Im beginning to understand and love why that is. Wishing my bestie, my hero, my father the happiest birthday !!”

    In the picture, Dulquer is wearing a stylish white shirt, paired with black pants and a sleek hairdo. Mammootty, on the other hand, donned a black and white shirt, and a veshti. The father-son duo is smiling and looking away from the camera.

    Malayalam superstar Mohanlal also extended birthday wishes to Mammootty by sharing a picture of him kissing Mammootty. He captioned the post, "Happy Birthday Dear Ichakka." The term ‘Ichakka’ is Mohanlal’s affectionate nickname for Mammootty.

    Mammootty’s upcoming film

    Marking the occasion of Mammootty’s birthday, the poster of his upcoming Malayalam film Dominic and The Ladies' Purse, was released. The film is directed by noted Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon. Sharing the poster, Mammootty wrote in the caption, “Presenting the First Look Poster of Dominic and The Ladies' purse , Directed by @menongautham & Produced by @MKampanyOffl.”

    Mammootty recently won his 15th Filmfare Award for the much-acclaimed Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, which is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. The actor was last seen in the 2024 film Turbo and will soon be seen in Bazooka.
