Today, the whole entertainment industry got a shock of their lives when they heard the sudden news about the passing away of Malaika Arora’s father Anil Mehta. The police officials have said that ‘prima facie’ it looks like a case of death by suicide. In no time, there were many celebs who started pouring into the Arora residence in Mumbai to extend their support to the family in the time of grief.
Malaika Arora, on her part, took to social media and shared an extremely heartfelt note in the memory of her father Anil Mehta.She posted an emotional photograph of her father and added a caption which stated, ‘We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time’.
She added, ‘We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect. With gratitude, Joyce, Malaika, Amrita, Shakeel, Arhaan, Azaan, Rayyan, Casper, Axl, Duffy & Buddy Anil Kuldip Mehta 22/02/1962 11/09/2024’. What was really heartening was to see Malaika Arora, who considers her dog Casper as an integral part of the family, to include his name in the list of family members.
As per a news report in The Economic Times, it was mentioned that the police personnel are reviewing the CCTV footage that they have obtained from the building in order to collect the details about the unfortunate incident. Besides that, there was also a source-based news report in PTI which stated that, Malaika’s father’s death was an accidental death rather than suicide.

As per a source-based news report in News 18, Malaika Arora’s mother had given her statement to the police in which she had reportedly said that Anil Mehta would routinely sit on the balcony and read the newspapers every morning. She had reportedly also stated that, even though they were divorced, they had started living together again for the past few years and today (Wednesday) morning, when she saw her ex-husband’s slippers in the living room, she went to look for him on the balcony.
On their part, the police had issued a media statement regarding the death of Anil Mehta. In the statement to the media, it was mentioned, ‘Anil Mehta used to live on the sixth floor. We are carrying out a detailed investigation from all angles… our forensic teams are here for investigation. His body is being sent for postmortem. We are investigating everything… prima facie it looks like suicide, we are conducting further investigation’.
