Maidaan teaser out: Ajay Devgn as intense Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim will give you goosebumps

Today is indeed Ajay Devgn’s day! As his directorial Bholaa hit the theatres today, March 30, the actor dropped the intriguing teaser of his upcoming film, Maidaan. The movie chronicles the golden era of football from 1952 to 1962, in which the Indian team managed to qualify for the Olympics twice. Ajay essays the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, who is known as the architect of modern Indian football.

The short clip began with a voice announcement that introduces the Indian football team who plays the game barefooted. Then follows impressive shots of Indian players and several hardships they bear to be in the team. A glimpse of Ajay Devgn’s character as an Indian football coach is then shown which stands as a pillar for their players. Towards the end, Ajay could be seen getting highly emotional as tears drop down her eyes.His voice saying, “Aaj maidaan me utarna gyarah par dikhna ek”could be heard in the background as the teaser ends.

Soon after the teaser dropped, netizens spammed the comment section with compliments. One user wrote, “One More National Award For Superstar Ajay Devgn Ajay Most National Award winner Actor India After Maidaan” Another commented, “Today is Ajay Devgn day” “ Goosebumps” read one of the comments. One of the users reacted, “Ek movie release hui nahi dusri movie ka Promotion chaalu, Akshay Kumar wali line.”

Talking about Maidaan, the film is based on the true story of an unknown hero who created history and records for India. Besides Ajay, the film also stars Priyamani, Gajraj Rao along with Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh. The film is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and the music is composed by AR Rahman. Backed by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla, the film is all set to hit theatres on 23rd June 2023.

Meanwhile, Ajay’s Bholaa is an official Hindi remake of the Tamil film, Kaithi. The film also stars Tabu, Sanjay Mishra, Gajraj Rao, and Deepak Dobriyal in prominent roles. While Abhishek Bachchan and Amala Paul make special appearances in the film. Directed and produced by Ajay, the film has been receiving positive critic reviews so far.
