The reviews have started to roll in for the latest Tamil movie, Maharaja, which is due in cinemas this Friday. The overseas distributor of the movie appreciated the producers for arranging a special screening for him to make an informed choice about whether or not to take "the gamble" on this film.

Varun, film distributor and co-founder of the streaming service Tentkotta, claimed that most producers don't screen the movie for distributors, depriving them of a chance to know what they are buying.

"#Maharaja very excited to release this movie across the entire overseas market along with @uie_offl. Watched this movie last October. Producer @PassionStudios_ asked me to watch it before boarding the flight, and I wanted to skip watching the movie so that I get 3 hours extra in India. I'd like to thank @PassionStudios_ and @Dir_Nithilan for showing the movie and doing the business for everyone involved with this movie. It is a welcome move, as a distributor we are the only ones who are investing (gambling) without watching the movie," said Varun.

Varun seems thrilled about the film's potential to click with audiences worldwide. He gave a glowing review, claiming that this film would satisfy the cravings of the audience for a well-made movie. "#Maharaja is the answer to all Tamil fans who compare with Malayalam cinema. Thanks @Dir_Nithilan for giving us hero @VijaySethuOffl. You will be in the top league of directors," he added.

Maharaja is set to hit the screens worldwide on June 14. The film is written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan of Kurangu Bommai fame. Starring Vijay Sethupathi in the titular role, the movie is billed as a revenge drama.

Based on the trailer, the film revolves around an ordinary barber, Maharaja, and his efforts to retrieve something that was taken from him by a masked intruder. The film also stars Anurag Kashyap, Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami, and Mamta Mohandas.
