    Thalapathy Vijay's 2023 film Leo was a roaring hit upon its release last year, making it one of the highest-grossing movies. As the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial marks one year since its glorious theatrical debut, the filmmaker shared a heartfelt note, joining in the one-year celebrations, and also shared a BTS pic.

    Taking to his social media pages, the director penned a note of gratitude, thanking the audience and crew members for making the film a grand success. Calling it a movie that will always stay close to his heart, the director wrote, "So many learnings, so many memories, so many exciting moments. The film that will always stay close to my heart, #Leo. Love you so much, @actorvijay na, for making it happen. Eternally grateful to all the people who have spent their sweat and blood for this film, and the audience." 

    Reflecting on the memories, the director also shared an unseen behind-the-scenes picture of himself alongside the leading man, Thalapathy Vijay from the film sets.

    Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, featured multiple stars, including Thalapathy Vijay, Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Anurag Kashyap, Mysskin, Madonna Sebastian, George Maryan, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, and Mathew Thomas, among others.  

    The film, which is part of Lokesh's LCU franchise, revolves around Parthiban, a café owner in Himachal Pradesh, who is followed by a gang of criminals who suspect him to be Leo, the estranged son of Antony. Based on the 1997 Hollywood action thriller A History of Violence, Leo became a blockbuster upon its release and earned more than ₹600 crore at the box office. Although the film received flak for its flashback sequences and writing, it garnered tremendous appreciation for the performances. The movie is currently available for streaming on Netflix.

    During a recent master class, director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared more insights into his future projects. When asked about the possibility of a sequel to Leo, he expressed that if given an opportunity, he would definitely make a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster. He also mentioned that if the project ever materializes, he would title the sequel Parthiban, after Vijay's character in the film. 

    Although fans have been spamming the director's recent tweet with requests for updates on Leo 2, the final decision rests with Vijay, who will determine whether to continue his acting career or conclude it with Thalapathy 69 once and for all. For the unversed, the Tamil superstar had earlier announced his decision to quit cinema to pursue his ambitious political career. Thalapathy 69, directed by H. Vinoth, will be his last film.
