Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is gearing up for the highly anticipated gangster drama Coolie with superstar Rajinikanth, recently shared some interesting insights about his upcoming projects. During a master class named Koogai, organized by Neelam Social, the director revealed that after Coolie, he will be working on Kaithi 2, where he plans to bring together all the prominent members of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). He mentioned that he aims to create a "peak LCU" film with Kaithi 2, which will serve as a sequel to the 2019 Karthi starrer.

Lokesh explained that the inclusion of Suriya's character Rolex's scene at the end of Vikram was an intentional move to conclude the film on a high note. He stated that, just as he has plans for Kaithi 2, Vikram 2, and Leo 2, he also plans on creating a standalone film centered around the Rolex character. After that, he is planning to produce a major LCU film that unites all the characters from the franchise. He noted, "As I have mentioned before, I have films lined up to direct for the next 10 years."

Lokesh Kanagaraj accepts the criticism of Leo’s flashback sequence
The director acknowledged that he could have improved the 20-minute flashback sequence in Leo, which starred Thalapathy Vijay. He accepted the criticism from audiences, stating, "Yes, I could have improved the 20-minute flashback in Leo, but due to commercial constraints, I left it as it is." For the unversed, audiences were disappointed with the weak writing of the flashback scene, which revolved around human sacrifice. Many suggested that the filmmaker could have crafted a stronger and more impactful scene. Lokesh also added that if given an opportunity to make a sequel, he would title it Parthiban after Vijay’s character in the film.

Currently, the director is occupied with the highly anticipated gangster drama Coolie, which will feature superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. The film also stars Nagarjuna, Kannada actor Upendra, and Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir in key roles, with Shruti Haasan playing a pivotal role. The film is currently in the production stage.
