Legendary filmmaker K.Viswanath passes away at 92; SS Rajamouli, Kamal Haasan, and more pay their respects
The five-time National Award-winning director passed away at his residence in Hyderabad.

One of the greatest filmmakers the country has ever produced Kviswanth passed away at the age of 92. The five-time Nation Award winner began his career in the 1965 Telugu film 'Aatma Gowravam'.
While he mostly worked in the Telugu movie industry he has also directed some iconic Bollywood movies like Sargam, Jaag Utha Insan, and Sanjog.
The veteran has helmed 50 movies in a career spanning 5 decades. he has worked with actors like Kamal Hassan, Chiranjeevi, Rekha, Rishi Kapoor, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, and Sridevi.
He won his first National Award for the 1980 film Sankarabharanam which starred J. V. Somayajulu and Manju Bhargavi in the lead, the film is also going on to win the Prize of the Public at the Besançon Film Festival of France and the Special Mention at the Moscow International Film Festival.
His 1986 film Swathi Muthyam which starred Kamal Haasan and Raadhika was India's official entry for Best Foreign Language film at the 59th Academy Awards.
Many actors, directors, and politicians from across the country took to social media to express their admiration and love for the legends including Kamal Haasan who penned a heartfelt letter bidding farewell.
K. Viswanth also had a successful acting career and has performed in 31 movies. His role was in the 1995 movie Subha Sankalpam and his final role was in the 2022 movie Oppanda.
Some of the director's most iconic movies include Aatma Gowravam, Sankarabharanam, Sargam, Saptapadi, Swathi Muthyam, and Swarabhishekam.
His last directorial venture was the 2010 dram Subhapradam, which starred Allari Naresh and Manjari Phadnis in the lead.
