Koffee With Karan season 7: Karan says not Kiara Advani but Kriti Sanon was first choice for orgasm scene in Lust Stories, reveals what went wrong

Netflix’s 2018 anthology Lust Stories have a short story directed by Karan Johar that became a hot topic of discussion for its outrageous orgasm scene. And Kiara Advani beautifully portrayed the scene, but not many know she was not the first choice for the role in the short story. In a recent episode of Koffee With Karan season 7, Karan himself revealed that he first approached Kriti Sanon for the character.

While hosting his latest guests–Kiara Advani and Shahid Kapoor on his Koffee couch, the filmmaker happened to talk about Kiara’s orgasm scene in Lust Stories. Karan explained how difficult the casting process was and spilled out that Kriti refused the role because her mother didn’t allow it. “This story will be tough to cast because this girl, pretty much has an open orgasm in front of the whole family. I had offered it to Kriti Sanon and she said that her mom didn’t allow her. So I was like okay, I thought everybody’s mom will stand in line not allowing their daughters. It's actually a very empowering story,” he said.

Furthermore, he went on to narrate how he ended up casting Kiara in the role. “I met Kiara at Manish Malhotra’s house, I saw her, I saw the face, I knew her of course, I knew her as Alia Advani. In fact, on my phone, till very recently, her name was fed as Alia Advani. Alias are in my destiny. In my fate. So, I met her and I was like, can you come tomorrow and meet me, its for a short film. She was like zoned out, she said are you directing it? I said yes. Then she said, yeah, I am doing it,” he added.

For those unaware, Lust Stories is a 2018 anthology film consisting of four short film segments directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar. Kiara featured in the one directed by Karan where she essayed the role of a young woman who takes to a vibrator after her husband fails to satisfy her sexual desires. The short film also has Vicky Kaushal in the role of Kiara’s husband.
