In a news that has plunged the entire film and music fraternity into a state of shock and grief, veteran singer KK passed away at the age of 53 owing to a heart attack after he performed at a concert in Kolkata on Tuesday (May 31). The singer’s health had deteriorated at his hotel after he had finished his concert at Nazrul Manch but even though he was rushed to the CMRI Hospital post that, he was pronounced dead on reaching there. In a throwback interview, KK confessed to being media-shy and people not knowing him as a real individual due to his private image.

In an interview with Hindustan Times in the year 2018, KK had said, “I have always been media shy, and you won’t see my photos much in the media. I think that’s why people don’t know who I really am. It happens so many times with me that after a concert fans come up to me and ask that are you really KK and have you really sung songs like Tadap Tadap or Alvida ? I know they are not misinformed, or anything like that, but it’s just that they haven’t seen me much. So, they don’t know what I really look like.”

KK also had a modest take on the public’s response to his song. The ‘Sach Keh Raha Hai Deewana’ singer said, “After I sing a song, I keep a track of it just for a short time. Just the first few reactions. After that, I don’t really take note of how well a particular song has done. It is only at shows when fans keep asking me to sing a particular song that I end up realizing that it’s a big hit.”

Talking about his tragic demise, KK was complaining of being unwell ever since he returned to his hotel after his concert in Kolkata. However, he was pronounced dead on reaching the hospital. A news report quoted the hospital authority to say, “It’s unfortunate that we could not treat him.”
