Alia Bhatt grabbed the Best Actress (Popular) Award at the 69th Filmfare Awards which was held in Gujarat yesterday (January 28). However, while her fans were truly overjoyed by this achievement, some netizens called her very undeserving of the award. Not only this but her mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor’s post congratulating her and her husband Ranbir Kapoor who also won Best Actor for Animal earned some brickbats.
Talking about the same, Neetu shared a picture of Ranbir and Alia posing with their Filmfare trophies. Along with the post was also a throwback picture of them posing together back in 2019 when they had won Best Actor and Actress Awards for Sanju and Raazi respectively. She captioned the same stating, “ I secretly prayed and wished a repeat of 2019 ( Sanju raazi ) so happy it happened again !!! Congratulations both of you. Proud very very proud #animal #rockyranikipremkahani.” Take a look at the post.
Angry netizens started expressing their disappointment both in Neetu’s post and on X. One of the netizens stated, “Kiara deserved it more for Satyaprem. I like Alia but sorry she didn't deserve it for Gullu boy and for Rocky Rani too.” While a user lashed out at Neetu stating, “Rani Mukherjee in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, Kiara Advani in Satya Prem Ki Katha, and Taapsee Pannu in Dunki all were way better than you nepo nibbi daughter in law. You prayed for it, she paid for it, and KJo made it happen.” A netizen added, “Ok with Ranbir in animal but not with Alia RRPKK is not deserve for this. Rani, Deepika, or taapse muat deserve.” A user said that Rani Mukerji should have won the award under this category for Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway. The comment read, “Rani was far better...sorryyy nepo sucks.”
Well, seems like many users aren’t pleased with Alia bagging the Filmfare Award. Many netizens also felt that Vicky Kaushal and not Ranbir should have won Best Actor for his performance in Sam Bahadur. However, Vicky did win an award in the Best Supporting Actor category for Dunki.
