One of the most favorite and special festivals of the year is finally here! Today the people of our country will wear gorgeous new clothes, decorate their homes with diyas and rangoli and in the evening families will come together for Lakshmi puja. And let’s not forget the different kinds of sweets we gorge on! But it’s the period before Diwali that makes it so special-- cleaning the house and going shopping with our loved ones. Well, Diwali at Bollywood heartthrob Kartik Aaryan ’s house is no different. When he’s not busy shooting, his mother makes sure he pitches in for the mini makeover that his home gets by Diwali cleaning.

But what was Diwali like for the actor as a child? In an interview with ETimes, Kartik revealed, “Bursting crackers, buying new clothes, waking up early in the morning before sunrise, gorging on faraal, relatives coming over… I remember as a child, I would wait for Diwali the whole year because iss tyohar par naye kapde banwaye jaate the. Diwali ki shaam pure ghar mein bhag bhagkar diye jalaate the hum log. Meri sister aur mere beech competition hota tha ki kaun zyada diye jalayega, kiske paas zyada pataakhe hain… yeh bhi ek mudda hota tha. Bachpan ki Diwali ka alag hi mazaa tha.”

Kartik celebrates Diwali every year with his family at their home. But this time his sister Kritika Tiwari, who is a doctor, isn’t getting a break. So the family will join her at her Navi Mumbai apartment to celebrate. On the work front, Kartik has had an incredibly busy year with back to back shooting schedules. He has an envious line up at the moment which includes films like Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’s Hindi remake Shehzada, Aashiqui 3 and love saga Satyaprem Ki Katha, to name a few.

Was your ‘bachpan ki Diwali’ similar to Kartik’s?
