Karthik Subbaraj heaps praise on Indian 2, but fans call out the 'forced review' | Here’s why

Kamal Haasan and Shankar’s latest vigilante drama, Indian 2, has been the talk of the town ever since it hit the big screens recently. The film has been garnering mixed reactions from viewers and has not been showing any signs of positive word-of-mouth from audiences and critics alike.

However, director Karthik Subbaraj, who watched the film recently, praised it on his social media pages, which has not sat well with fans. Here's why:

Taking to his social media handles, director Karthik Subbaraj reviewed the latest film Indian 2. Heaping praise on Kamal Haasan's performance and Shankar's 'larger-than-life' execution, the director was full of admiration for the latest vigilante drama. He wrote, “#Indian2... Enjoyed @shankarshanmugh sir's iconic big thoughts and 'Larger than Life' scale execution of those thoughts on screen. You are an inspiration always, sir. Kamal sir, as always, was 🔥🔥 And to see Senapathy intro with the Indian Theme was a Nostalgic High!! However, fans criticized the director for exaggerating the film and overhyping a movie that has been generally receiving negative reviews. From comments like ‘Did you really watch the film?’ to ‘Another proof of how Red Giants control the TN film industry. Cowards!!!’, fans have been dubious of the director’s review of the film and called it 'not-so-genuine.'

Many fans even wondered if this was a forced review since the director’s next film with filmmaker S. Shankar, Game Changer, will be arriving in theatres this year. For the unversed, the story for Ram Charan's upcoming film Game Changer is penned by director Karthik Subbaraj, who had declined to direct the film and insisted that S. Shankar helm the project.

Now, with Indian 2 receiving mediocre responses from audiences, it is believed to affect the business of Shankar and Ram Charan’s long-delayed film Game Changer. Nonetheless, the makers believe that Indian 2 might generate more revenue in the days ahead.
