Karan Johar suffered from loosies during K3G shoot; says ‘I literally went behind the biggest limestone statue’
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham marked Karan Johar’s second film as a director. It was during the shoot of his super hit track Suraj Hua Maddham, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, that the filmmaker had a case of loosies.
Ace filmmaker Karan Johar ’s second directorial Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is undoubtedly one of the most iconic films of the Hindi film industry. Starring a stellar cast of popular actors such as Shah Rukh Khan , Amitabh Bachchan , Kajol , Kareena Kapoor Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Jaya Bachchan, the family drama not only won hearts but also bagged 5 Filmfare Awards that year, and went on to emerge as the highest-grossing Indian film outside of India back then. It was majorly shot in London and Egypt.
Well during a segment of Social Media Star With Janice, KJo remembered an embarrassing behind the scenes incident that occurred when he was shooting a song in Farafra, Egypt. He shared, “The sequence in Suraj Hua Maddham, where Kajol is in a green saree, it was 500 kilometers of just limestone statues, the most beautiful location I think I’ve ever seen.” The filmmaker recalled, “I was really having a bad time because I was getting the loosies. We were shooting and there were no van in those days. I literally went behind the biggest limestone statue.”
KJo thought that the statue, which was huge, would cover him. However, when he turned around he saw a group of around 20 people walking towards him. They were from a Hollywood crew. When they saw the filmmaker, they were about to take out their cameras but Karan stopped them by saying ‘Please, I am the director of this movie, have some respect’.
We honestly can’t believe this story managed to be a secret for so many years! It is definitely brave of Karan to share an incident like this with fans. We wonder how the star cast reacted when they found out.
