Karan Johar remembers first meeting with Shah Rukh Khan; had told the actor ‘you must open your shirt 2-3 buttons’
Karan Johar recalls asking Shah Rukh Khan to switch his jeans brand and flaunt his Adam’s apple on the sets of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and ace filmmaker Karan Johar are one of the most adored actor-director duos of all time. They created magic each time they worked together and till date share a very strong bond on the personal front as well. The two have been best of friends since KJo began his journey in the Hindi film industry. But things weren’t as smooth as they are today, when they first met on the sets of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Karan was an additional assistant to director Aditya Chopra and the first thing he said to SRK was to switch from Wrangler jeans to Levi’s jeans.
But that’s not all! In a recent chat with fashion designer Prabal Gurung, Karan revealed that he also asked Shah Rukh to flaunt his Adam’s apple. He shared, “And I said, ‘Oh you have an Adam’s apple, you must open your shirt 2-3 buttons.’ So, he just kept nodding, and then he said, ‘Will you give me a moment, can you call Adi (director Aditya Chopra) in?” After KJo left, Shah Rukh asked Aditya Chopra: “‘Yeh kaun hai? kahan se aaye? Aur yeh mere Adam’s apple ke baare mein kyun baat kar raha hai?’ So, Adi told him, ‘He’s a townie, they all talk like this.’”
Karan went on to fondly remember, “I was being very genuine. Eventually, Shah Rukh started finding amusement in all these things that I was saying and he was like, ‘What do you want to do?’ I was like, ‘I want to be a designer’.” And the rest, as we know, is history. Till date KJo credits his success as a filmmaker to the support and love that he received from Aditya and Shah Rukh.
Well, we don’t know about you but we sure are ready for a reunion. Desperately manifesting KJo and SRK to join forces and sign a film together ASAP!
