It's official! South Indian diva Kajal Aggarwal has joined the team of Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming mythological period drama, Kannappa. The makers of the film took to their social media handles to reveal the surprise to fans who have been waiting to find out more about the leading lady, who is paired with Vishnu Manchu's character in this grand project.
“We are thrilled to announce another star attraction in @iVishnuManchu's #Kannappa: The talented @MsKajalAggarwal is all set to shine in an important role! Stay tuned for an unforgettable cinematic experience! (sic),” the caption of the official announcement post read. Interestingly, Kajal and Vishnu Manchu had last shared screen space in the 2021 Telugu film Mosagallu.

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa boasts an ensemble star cast that includes Mohan Babu, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Prabhas, apart from Kajal Aggarwal. Akshay Kumar has reportedly completed shooting for his portions of the movie, which also marks his debut in Telugu films. Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar was roped in to play a pivotal role in the film; however, he opted out of the film due to unknown reasons. His role was later offered to Akshay Kumar, who has a significant supporting role in the mythological movie.

The makers of Kannappa had already announced that Ponniyin Selvan star Sarath Kumar had been roped in to play an important role in the film. Interestingly, Kannappa will not only be a pan-Indian film released in several Indian languages but will also be released in English. Vishnu Manchu has also penned the screenplay for the film.
Kannappa teaser to be screened at Cannes 2024
Kannappa, which has Vishnu playing the titular character, is the tale of a brave warrior who becomes a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. Earlier, it was announced that the teaser and a sneak peek of Kannappa will premiere at the renowned Cannes Film Festival on May 20 at 6 pm. Touted to be one of the most eagerly awaited pan-Indian films, Kannappa is produced by Mohan Babu, Vishnu Manchu's father.
