Kanguva editor Nishadh Yusuf found dead ahead of the release of the Suriya-starrer

Popular film editor Nishadh Yusuf was reportedly found dead at his Kochi residence in the early hours of October 30, 2024. According to reports, his body was discovered at his Panampilly Nagar home in Kochi around 2 am. He was 43 years old at the time of his passing. Currently, no cause of death has been released, with an investigation is underway.

Kanguva editor passes away

The news of the editor’s death was confirmed by the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) director through a post on his Facebook page.

Nishadh was preparing for the highly anticipated release of the upcoming Suriya-starrer spectacle Kanguva, scheduled for November 14, 2024. The makers of Kanguva shared a message of condolence, posting a photo of Nishadh Yusuf and wrote, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of our beloved editor, #NishadYusuf. Your talent, dedication, and vision were invaluable assets to our team, and your absence leaves us with a profound void. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends during this difficult time. #RIPNishadYusuf.”

Nishadh’s last social media post goes viral

Nishadh's last public appearance was at the Kanguva audio launch event in Chennai, just days before his sudden demise. His final post, featuring photos with the cast and crew, including director Siva, Suriya, and Bobby Deol, has now gone viral. These heartfelt moments shared at the event have added a bittersweet note to his legacy.

RJ Balaji’s heartfelt tribute

Comedian-turned-filmmaker RJ Balaji, who had roped in Nishadh as the editor for his upcoming dream project with Suriya (Suriya 45), expressed his grief on social media, writing, “Shocked and devastated to know editor Nishad Yusuf is no more. Met him recently, great talent and a wonderful human being. Life is unpredictable. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

Nishadh Yusuf began his career in the Malayalam film industry, starting as a spot editor for Aashiq Abu's thriller 22 Female Kottayam. He went on to edit several memorable films, including Unda, Saudi Vellakka, Thallumaala, Operation Java, Chaaver, and more. In addition to Kanguva, he was working on several other highly awaited releases, including Mammootty's Bazooka and Naslen's Alappuzha Gymkhana.
