Suriya’s latest fantasy flick, Kanguva, struggles to make a mark at the box office despite running for almost a week in theatres. Directed by Siva, the film faced significant criticism for its lackluster storyline and headache-inducing background music, leading to a lukewarm theatrical reception. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Suriya-starrer Kanguva opened to decent numbers but fell short on day 2, followed by an underwhelming week at the box office. After earning ₹3 crore on Monday, the film's domestic box office total stands at ₹60 crore. The movie failed the Monday test, seeing a 69% decline, and earned just around ₹3.15 crore on Tuesday. Globally, Kanguva is yet to cross ₹90 crore, and it seems the film might struggle to overcome its mammoth ₹300 crore budget.
R. Madhavan praises Suriya’s Kanguva
Actor R. Madhavan, who recently watched Kanguva on the big screen, was all praise for Suriya and the entire cast and crew for presenting a spectacle. The actor took to his social media pages to share his review and expressed admiration for Suriya's efforts. Recommending it as a must-watch theatrical film, he wrote:
"Saw @Kanguva last night on a big screen and was blown away by the efforts and commitment of my dear brother. His complete surrender and uncompromised zeal are exemplary. I wish I could do half of what he has done. @actorsuriya... a Herculean effort by the entire cast and crew. Definitely a theatrical watch."
