Kangana Ranaut reveals Tiku Weds Sheru was originally named Divine Lovers starring her and Irrfan Khan, deets inside
Talking about the inception of the movie, the Queen actress said, "It holds a special place in my heart because many people are unaware that this film was previously launched with Irrfan Khan and me."
Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday launched the trailer of her maiden production venture Tiku Weds Sheru. The film features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and debutant Avneet Kaur in lead roles. During the launch, the Dhaakad actress said the film is special to her as it was originally planned with her and the late actor Irrfan Khan. She made an interesting revelation that the makers had earlier launched the movie with the title Divine Lovers, however, it couldn’t go on floors back then.
Talking about the inception of the movie, the Queen actress said, "It holds a special place in my heart because many people are unaware that this film was previously launched with Irrfan Khan and me. At that time, it was titled 'Divine Lovers.' Unfortunately, our director Sai Kabir fell severely ill, which led to a delay of 3-4 years in the project."
She continued, "When Kabir sir returned, we had already lost Irrfan Saab, and that demotivated us. We wanted to capture my spirit from a decade ago, the one who had big dreams in the city, the one hoping to make her mark in Bollywood. So, I told Kabir that our previous plan wouldn't work anymore. As a fun experiment, I shared the script with Aparna Purohit from Amazon Studios, and they immediately embraced it. Within the same week, they expressed their eagerness to collaborate. From there on, doors kept opening for us."
Tiku Weds Sheru is an upcoming romantic drama which revolves around two strugglers who want to make it big in the city of dreams, Mumbai. They started as the coming together of an unusual jodi, but later become the marriage of two souls. Directed by Sai Kabir and backed by Kangana’s Manikarnika Films, the film is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video on June 23, 2023.
